Training Programs We Love

When we started running, we had no schedule what-so-ever. It was really difficult to track our progress this way. Neither of us had ever run in our lives before March of 2010 and we were very unsure where to begin. A friend of mine on Facebook pointed me toward the Novice Supreme program and it was a perfect fit for our schedules -- well.. Corlet's schedule.. My weeks are pretty flexible. Currently, these are the only programs I have tried. As we complete a program, we'll try new ones and they will be posted here as we go. Enjoy!

  • Hal Higdon's Half Marathon (Novice 2) - This is our current program. I am really liking it so far. We were doing a Novice Marathon program (see link below) that we also really liked. We're not training for a marathon right now, though, so we switched to this one.
  • Novice Supreme Training Program - We started with this program and I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to train for a marathon, is a beginner, and has 30 weeks to train ahead of time. It starts slow but not too slow. It's not overwhelming when the distances get far (unless you are NOT training for a marathon). Those long run days can feel a lot like this:
